Mendez Beats Olympic Champ at R.A.F. 12

Indiana's own Jesse Mendez recently competed at Real American Freestyle (RAF) 12 in Cleveland, OH, this past weekend, and we have a short recap of the match. Mendez took on Vladimer Khinchegashvili, a 2016 Olympic gold medalist from Georgia. Mendez controlled the hand fight before opening the match up with a big four off a double leg in the first period, taking a commanding 5-1 lead into the break. We did have a “scare” in the second period when Jesse was choked unconscious in a head pinch position, but he bounced back, securing another takedown to take the match 7-2, with both points coming by push-out.  Congrats to Jesse, and we look forward to seeing him compete in future RAF events.
