Description: This award is given to the wrestler who came out of nowhere to make a deep postseason run.

Breakdown: Usually, you can tell if a kid is on his way to becoming a state-level kid by offseason results and wins over kids on that level already, but Crown Point's Jacob Powers did not have any crazy wins this past offseason that would have made you think he would finish on the podium. While he did have a win over a state qualifier in his freshman year, it seemed like more of an outlier. However, it looked like Powers started to turn the corner around the holidays and then picked up a huge win over this year's runner-up at the team state. He carried that momentum into the postseason by winning his sectional and regional, before finishing second at the semi-state, and eventually 6th at the state. Congratulations to Jacob Powers on receiving this award.
