Description: This award goes to the coach and staff who have best elevated their team.

Breakdown: I was told this offseason by a Center Grove coach not to sleep on them this year, and that they could win it all. I, of course, told him they had no chance of beating either of the Bulldogs. Well, I was wrong, and Center Grove did what very few thought they could this season. The Trojans finished 2nd behind Crown Point at Al Smith, and 3rd at team state behind Crown Point and Brownsburg, so it looked early on that they were still the third-best of the group. Coach Swain kept those guys locked in, and they believed they could do it and found a way to finish the year as the best team in the state. They won the semi-state over Brownsburg and sent ten to state.  Of those ten, eight placed, with all being in the top five. If you look at their roster and the guys they have, you do not see anyone who underperformed when it mattered, and that was the difference. Congratulations to Coach Swain and his staff on winning this year's Hoosiermat Coach of the Year Award.
