Description: This award goes to the best freshman wrestler in the state.

 

Breakdown: If you look at the accolades at the end of the year, you would think several guys could have taken home this award, but if you watched the matches, then you would know that this is an easy award to give this year. Cathedral's Jeremy Carver was looked at as the best of this bunch before he even stepped on a high school mat, and he showed why this season. Carver's only in-state losses came to the two guys who wrestled for a title last weekend, and he avenged one of them later in the year. He also picked up three wins over a former state champ and runner-up this season. Congrats to Jeremy Carver on winning this year's Hoosiermat Rookie of the Year Award.
