Barket Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke redshirt sophomore Connor Barket was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week for matches held last week, November 22-25.

 

Competing in the heavyweight division, Barket was a workhorse for the Blue Devils over the weekend, going 4-0 over four dual bouts, including a perfect 3-0 day in Duke’s Quad Match in Pittsboro, North Carolina, on Saturday, November 23.

 

Barket opened the weekend with an 8-5 decision against Ira Jenkins of No. 8 Michigan on Friday, November 22.  In the Quad Match on Saturday, Barket was perfect on the day. He started the day with a 5-0 decision over Emmanuel Ulrich of American and then faced his second ranked opponent of the season in No. 33 Jack Forbes of Utah Valley.  Barket registered an escape and a late takedown to come away with the 7-6 decision over Forbes.  Barket closed the day with a pinfall win at 4:08 over Presbyterian's Morvens Saint Jean to cap a 38-9 Blue Devils' win over the Blue Hose.

 

With his four wins last week, Barket improved to 13-2 overall for the season.
