Weight Preview
A Whiteland wrestler ran the table at this weight class a year ago, and I see the same happening this season. Freshman Grace Nedelsky arrives with a long list of accolades already and will look to continue her dominance at the high school level. Even as a freshman, I don't think Nedelsky has any peers at this weight. There are several girls here returning with state experience, but only one medalist returns from a year ago. That would be Merrillville's Meagan Thomas, who took 6th a year ago. Thomas is currently ranked second at the weight, being the only returning medalist, but we have not seen her since state, so it is hard to say that she is definitively the second best at the weight. The other medalist at this weight is Terre Haute South's Emma Ellis, who placed 7th in 2025. Outside of those three, Jaila Powers of Crown Point has made the trip to state the past two seasons but hasn't been able to get past the round of 16. There are several freshmen, such as West Lafayette's Penelope Kaplan and Guerin Catholic's Mackenzie Moe, at this weight class that I expect to make noise and climb the rankings, but they have not had the opportunity to beat the girls ahead of them yet. I am also interested to see how Franklin Central's Jaydis Sordelet does down a weight class.
