Hartleroad Brings Home a Gold in Greco

Indiana's James Hartleroad helped lead a dominant effort from the U.S. Greco-Roman squad at the 2026 U20 Pan American Championships on Saturday, claiming individual gold at 130KG.

The U.S. finished with a medal in every weight class and placed second in the Greco-Roman team race, just three points behind champion Mexico.

Hartleroad swept his round-robin bracket with a flawless 3-0 mark. He surrendered only two points across three matches and bookended his performance with technical falls. Along the way, he converted a pair of four-point actions, including his final scoring sequence in a 10-1 technical fall over Brazil’s Andre Brandao Santana in the decisive bout.

Mexico captured the team title with 193 points, followed closely by the U.S. with 190. Host nation Brazil placed third with 169 points, followed by Ecuador (103) and Peru (71).
