Jett Boots named MIAA Wrestler of the Week

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – Junior Jett Boots has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Wrestling Athlete of the Week after picking up a major victory in his lone match of the week.

This is the second time this season that a Thunder grappler has been named to the weekly award and the first time for Boots.

Boots picked up a win by major decision (11-2) over Dylan Phelps of Olivet College, during the team's MIAA dual meet against the Comets. It earned the Thunder four points toward the team score coming out of the 141 weight class.

The contest was a rematch of the 2022 MIAA finals for the 133 weight class, where Phelps came out ahead of Boots by the score of 5-3. This evens the record between the two competitors for their career.

Trine will continue their season when they take the mats against Alma College on Thursday, January 19. The home dual is their first of the season and is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
