Whitehead Goes Back-To-Back
COLLEGE
With his win this past week, Gavyn Whitehead became the first wrestler in Indian Hills wrestling history to win two NJCAA national titles. Whitehead starred for the Warriors with a remarkable run to his second consecutive title. The sophomore posted four consecutive bonus victories, including three falls, to advance to Saturday night's championship bout. Whitehead cruised in the final bout, outlasting Cowley College's (KS) Evan Rodriguez, the No. 2 overall seed in the bracket, 14-7. The No. 1 nationally ranked pound-for-pound wrestler in the nation this season caps one of the most dominant careers in junior college history, capturing two national titles along with two NJCAA North Central District championships.
