NR Grady Nevins-DeKalb

NR Jacob Binegar-Bellmont

NR Ari Schrock-Maconaquah

NR William Whiteman-Homestead

NR Ben Dygard-Yorktown

NR Adley Yoder-Northridge

Weight Preview:

Joseph Warner, Carroll (Fort Wayne), is the lone returning state medalist in the bracket this weekend. He is also the favorite to take home his first semi-state title this weekend. That task will not be easy, as he will likely see Delta's Karson Kahalekomo in the finals. Kahalekomo is definitely a top-eight kid at this weight, but his schedule did not allow him to climb much higher in the rankings. My last two guys out at this weight are Maconaquah's Ari Schrock and East Noble's Konnor Cleveland. Cleveland will likely have New Haven's Jaxon Harris in the ticket round. The two met earlier this year with Cleveland winning it 4-2.

2025 Champion: Reed Wicker-Delta

NR Ramon Sierra-Garrett

NR Jayce Johnson-Huntington North

Weight Preview:

Delta's Kaid Jackson finished 5th at the state tournament at this weight a year ago, but will be looking for his first semi-state title this weekend. A weird loss late in the year killed his ranking a bit, but he is a top-five kid at this weight. In the semis, he should see Homestead's Drew Heisler. Heisler was good last year, but too inconsistent, in my opinion, but he is now beating who he should be beating on a more consistent basis. On the bottom side, we have two interesting potential ticket round matches. The first one is between North Miami's Hunter Duncan and Yorktown's Jackson Webb. Due to injury, Duncan moved up one spot and is now in a much better situation to punch his ticket. I am going to lean with Webb here just due to the unfamiliarity with Duncan. The second ticket round to keep an eye on is between Prairie Heights Max Kleeburg and Garrett's Ramon Sierra. Sierra is a returning state qualifier, but he has lost, badly, to Kleeburg twice this year.

2025 Champion: Bakari Cooper-New Haven

Weight Preview:

This is another weight headlined by a returning state medalist from Delta. Reed Wicker won the semi-state last year at 106 and is up two weights and on the short list to win another one this weekend. In the finals, he will likely see another returning semi-state champion, New Haven's Bakari Cooper. Cooper surprised me last year when he won 113 here, but I have him as the slight favorite to win the weight this weekend. I have Wawasee's Cameron Senter being the other guy to make it out of the top half, and North Miami's Braylon McIntire to make it out of the bottom side. McIntire is hard to gauge at this weight, as he is the only undefeated wrestler here, but he has not seen the competition some of the others have.

2025 Champion: Levi Johns-Bluffton

NR Simon Cornewell-Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger

NR Dalton Parks-Cowan

NR Keegan Tedder-Western

NR Benjamin Mills-Bellmont

NR Qwanell Gabriel-Lakeland

NR Chase Brickey-Carroll (Fort Wayne)

NR Brayden Saleem-Muncie Burris

NR Kwynn Al Boggs-Peru

Weight Preview:

Garrett Swathwood was a clear top-four guy a year ago at 113 before his season was ended early, but he is healthy this year and looks to roll to his first semi-state title. Even though he should see another very accomplished wrestler in the finals, I feel that Swathwood is just too far above the field this weekend. His likely finals opponent will be North Miami's Rex Moore. Moore has been to the state the past three seasons and picked up a medal a year ago. Moore also brings in the only undefeated record into the weight class this weekend. South Adams's Dakota Sprunger and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's Simon Cornwell should meet in the ticket on the top side. This match could go either way; if you look at common opponents, this one should be tight. My final guy getting out is Lakeland's Qwanell Gabriel. Gabriel's toughest match to make it out may be in the first round against Chase Brickey, Carroll (Fort Wayne).

2025 Champion: Hickson Love-Marion

NR William Patterson-South Adams

NR Griffin Kline-East Noble

Weight Preview:

This weight is Delta's Jensen Boyd versus the field. Boyd placed 4th as a freshman at 106 before his season was ended early last year due to injury. This year, he is a legit title contender and has been able to separate himself from the tier below. Outside of Boyd, three other wrestlers in this weight class wrestled downtown a year ago. The first two are Marion's Hickson Love and Leo's Sean Harris, who both qualified at 126 last season. Love beat Harris in the semis last year, 8-3, on his way to a semi-state title. The third wrestler I want to mention out of that bunch is Madion-Grant's Tripp Haisley, who qualified at 132 last year. Haisely will have Boyd in his half of the bracket and will likely have to settle for 3rd at best.

2025 Champion: Sam Mosier-Delta

Weight Preview:

While this is a deeper weight here this weekend, having five ranked wrestlers, but the two best kids at this weight are a level above the rest. Unfortunately, they are both on the same side of the bracket, and one will have to settle for 3rd. The first one is Bellmont's Henry Faurote. Faurote has been to the state tournament each year and is looking to make his third trip this weekend. His likely semifinal opponent is a kid who has state experienceas well, Homestead's Hunter Douglas. Douglas finished 5th in the state last year at 132, but will be looking for his first semi-state title this weekend. I have Eastside's Noah Dove and Western's Erik Hunt coming through on the bottom side, with Dove making it to the finals.

NR Tatumn Jones-Northwood

Weight Preview:

This is another weight that has a Delta wrestler as the heavy favorite. Sam Mosier took 4th at the state tournament last year at 132, and has not missed a beat moving up two weights. He will win another semi-state title this weekend. Outside of Mosier, there is a lot of gray area on who the other three wrestlers could be. On the top side of the bracket, Eastbrook's Keagan Hallis brings in the only undefeated record, but he has not really been tested at all this season. He will have Lakeland's Jerza Graber in the first round, and while Graber is not a world beater, he has better wins this year, and I couldsee him pulling off the "upset" here. The winner of this will wrestle the winner of Bluffton's Parker Barnes and Homestead's Jordan Raines. Raines beat Barnes 8-5 earlier this season. My last guy out is New Haven's Malachi Thullner. Thullner is probably the second-best kid here, but he is on the same side as Mosier and will likely settle for 3rd.

2025 Champion: Brody Hagewood-Prairie Heights

NR Cameron Moyer-Jimtown

NR Sam Wolpert-Bellmont

NR Owen Tolle-Eastern (Greentown)

Weight Preview:

Four wrestlers at this weight were at the state tournament a year ago, and I see three of the four making a return trip this season. The first being Adams Central's Dylan Ogg, who won the semi-state a year ago at 138. Ogg is my favorite to win another one this weekend. The next being Angola's Dallas Davidson, who was a qualifier at 150 last year. I have Davidson making the finals this weekend, but he will first have to get past Yorktown's Wyatt Hopppes, another returning state qualifier, to get to the semis. From there, he will likely have to get by Homestead's Ian Hutchison to get there. I know that Hutchison did beat Davidson earlier this year, but I am going to treat that as an outlier. The third of the group is Cowan's Ashton Goney. Goney was a state qualifier at 138 last season, but came in as a fourth from the regional last week.

NR Faruq Ghaffar-Northwood

Weight Preview:

This is a weight I am interested in seeing the finals. This could be a preview of next week's finals between Cowan's Jackson Bradley and Eastside's Linkin Carter. You could argue for either one to be the top-ranked wrestler in the state, and both bring in undefeated records against in-state opponents. Both wrestlers have made it downtown every season, and there are four state medals between the two. Bradley has been my number one for pretty much the entire season, and I am going to be sticking by him in this match as well. As for the other two qualifiers, Maconoaquah's Evan Oglesby is unfeated at this weight class and should have little trouble making it into the semis this weekend, before dropping a match to Bradley. On the top side, I have Huntington North's Patrick Flowers as my fourth guy out. Flowers will have a rematch with Bellmont's Charles Faurote in the opening round, a match Flowers won 10-7.

NR Nolan Winicker-Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran

NR Ranen DuBois-Wes-Del

NR Moses Howard-Wawasee

NR Adrian Haughn-Wabash

NR Devin Meinika-Columbia City

NR Korbin Kalhoefer-Huntington North

Weight Preview:

Adams Central's Brason Schortgen is the lone wrestler at this weight with any state experience, qualifying at 150 last season.  He is the on-paper favorite to win it this weekend. His likely finals opponent this weekend should be East Noble's Rylee Biddle. Biddle has been dominant all season, and, like Schortgen, he has not lost at this weight this season. In the semifinals, these two should see Wabash's Adrian Haugh and Marion's Shaun Caldwell, respectively. I do not see either winning in the semis, which would set up a fourth match between the two. Caldwell owns the series 2-1, having won the last two matches.

Weight Preview:

A lot of questions will be answered after this weekend for a few wrestlers at this weight. Garrett's Carter Fielden has made two trips downtown in his career, while bringing home a 6th-place medal in 2023. We already know the level he is at. As for Northfield's Elijah Gahl and Winchester's Wesley Hendrickson, we still do not really know. Both are good, but neither has been tested much this year. I do not see either having any issues punching their tickets, but I do need to see what happens to them from there. Hendrickson will likely have August Adams, Carroll (Fort Wayne), whom I am pretty high on. As for Gahl, he will see Fielden and we can see what level he is at from there.

NR Wes Summersett-South Adams

NR Brogan Parks-West Noble

NR Fabien Zamudio-Gibson-Eastbrook

NR Max Nussbaum-Adams Central

NR Job Richman-Eastside

Weight Preview:

Bellmont's Xavior Palacios is a returning state placer, finishing 8th at 190 last year, and has wrestled a tougher schedule than anyone in this bracket. Those two things will be the difference this weekend and why Palacios will take the title this weekend. In the semis, he should see Heritage's Jaxton Litchfield. Litchfield comes in with one loss on the year, which he has since avenged. I look for the sophomore to punch his first ticket this weekend. The bottom half is not as clear, as you will likely have a ticket round match between North Miami's Jordan Simon and South Adam's Wes Summersett. Based on common opponents, this match is a coin flip. Below them, we should have a ticket round featuring Eastside's Job Richman and West Noble's Brogan Park. These two met earlier in the year, with Richman winning 3-1, so this match should be a close one.

Weight Preview:

North Miami's Hartley Hooveris the heavy favorite to win his first semi-state title. He comes in with an undefeated record and has dominated the competition this season. Hoover is not the only returning state qualifier at this weight, as we also have Wawasee's Derek Morrison. Morrison has taken some questionable losses this season, but he is in a great spot to make a return trip. Garrett's Aiden Hunt is probably the most battle-tested wrestler in the field, and I feel like that will be what takes him into the finals this weekend. My last man out here is Homestead's Johnny Blair.

Weight Preview:

Leo's Isaiah Coolman is the clear favorite to take home a title this weekend. Coolman has made two previous trips downtown, qualifying in 2024 before placing 5th last year. He has already dominated the other contenders in the field, and he will remain undefeated after this weekend. His finals opponent will likely be Garrett's Jacob Reynolds. The two met last weekend in the regional finals, with Coolman winning by fall in the second period. Bellmont's Grady Baker earned himself a great draw by winning the regional last weekend and is set up to punch his ticket this weekend.   My last man out here is Elkhart's Kyle Sommer. Sommer does a tougher path, though, having to get past Bradyn Lothamer, Carroll (Fort Wayne), to make it out.
