Weight Preview:

Top-ranked and undefeated Kaitlynn of Whiteland headlines this weight. She has only two matches go the distance this year and has run the table up until this point. She will have a tough path to get her first state title, as she should see 2nd ranked Claire May of Roncalli in the quarters. May took her first loss last weekend, making her path to the finals much tougher. The girl who beat her is also on this half of the bracket, Jay County's Katie Rowles. Rowles should not have much trouble getting into the semi-finals with two favorable match-ups in the round of 16 and the quarterfinals. On the bottom half of the bracket, Center Grove's Aaliyah Brown did herself a huge favor by winning the regional last weekend, giving herself a great path to make the finals. She is favored over everyone on the bottom side of the bracket. Crown Point's Jaila Powers is her likely semifinals opponent, but she will have to get through Floyd Central's Addalyn Sisson to get there. Perry Meridian's Aniah Delgado comes in as a 4th-place finisher from a week ago, but had a regional that should account for half the medals at this weight.

Favorite: Kaitylnn Fouty-Whiteland Community

Best First Round Match: Addalyn Sisson (Floyd Central) vs Jailia Powers (Crown Point)

Weight Preview:

Indian Creek's Ella Neibert and New Haven's Ysabelle Ocampo are both returning state champions, winning 105 and 115, respectively. Those two are head and shoulders above the field here, in my opinion, and should have little trouble getting through their respective halves of the bracket. As good as I think Neibert is, I do not think she has enough to beat Ocampo Friday night. Jimtown's Sophia Carper is having a great freshman year, having only taken one real loss at this weight class. She should have little trouble making it into the semifinals and setting up another match with Ocampo. On the bottom side, we have a returning runner-up in Portage's Madisyn Mikels. I see her making a run at least until the semifinals, but her first-round match will be tough as she is drawn into another returning state placer in Riverton Parke's Shelby Leitgabel, who placed 6th at 100 a year ago. The winner of this should make it to the semis.

Weight Preview:

This is the first weight where I feel whoever shows up on Friday will be the one to win it. This weight class could be won by four to five different girls this weekend. The "favorite" here would be top-ranked Elizabeth Dowty of Indian Creek. She was able to avenge a loss she took in the sectional enroute to winning the regional a week ago. That loss was to Seymour's AnnMarie Shuler. Shuler does have a more favorable path to get into the finals, and I see her wrestling for a title Friday night. She should see NorthWood's Onica Gradeless in the semifinals. Gradeless is not only good enough to knock her off, but she could win the whole thing on Friday. On the bottom half of the bracket is my pick to win it, Eastbrook's Hailey Korporal. Korporal has not taken a loss to anyone inthis bracket and has been dominant all season.

Favorite: Elizabeth Dowty-Indian Creek

Dark Horse: Onica Gradeless-NorthWood

Best First Round Match:  Kenna Kleinschmidt (North Posey) vs Victoria Duenas Zelaya (North Central (Indianapolis))

NR Ezmeralda Lewis- East Noble

NR Gisele Kline-Fort Wayne North Side

NR Bhaar Riar-Franklin Central

Weight Preview:

Cathedral's Kendall Moe already has three state titles to her name, and she will walk away this weekend with her 4th. This is a deep weight, but Moe is just too much for anyone in the field on Friday. Her likely finals opponent is the other undefeated girl in this bracket, West Lafayette's Macy Fordyce. Fordyce has been dominant the entire season, and I do not believe that anyone has gone six minutes with her. Mooresville's Katie Epley and Roncalli's Olivia Lemus should make their respective semifinals before potentially wrestling each other for third.

Favorite: Kendall Moe-Indianapolis Cathedral

Dark Horse: Macy Fordyce-West Lafayette

Weight Preview:

Whiteland's Mikayla Perkins seems to have jumped levels this year after placing 5th a year ago. This is another weight where the favorite is so far ahead of the field that it seems like a forgone conclusion. The crazy part about saying that is this weight features someone who wrestled under the lights a year ago, Rossville's Marissa Nicolas. Outside of her lone loss to Perkins, Nicolas has been dominant this season. She is the clear number two at this weight. Munster's Alice Gill has looked good this season, with her only losses coming to Perkins. With the way the bracket fell, she should get third on Friday. The match to watch in the first round is at the bottom of the bracket, where the returning runner-up at 120, McCutcheon's Aaliyah McLean, and the returning 8th placer at 115, Beech Grove's Auna McCarty, wrestle for a spot on the podium. While McLean is the on-paper favorite, this match still interests me.

Favorite: Mikayla Perkins-Whiteland Community

NR Jayden Larkin-Fountain Central

NR Ariana Quezada-Plainfield

NR Abi Lemon-Jeffersonville

NR Silas Graf-Northview

Weight Preview:

Milan's Kayla Roell is up a weight after winning the title at 120 a year ago. Outside of and early season slip-up, she has rolled through most of the season without trouble, and I can see her wrestling for her second title on Friday night. She will have to be locked-in to do so, as she will have to first get past Plymouth's Angel Smith, who is my pick to make the finals on the top side of the bracket. Smith was a big move from wrestling for and maybe even winning a title a year ago. The freshman from Hobart, Corabella Wesley, looks like the girl to beat in this weight class. Her only match to go the distance this year was against Smith, and that match was not very competitive. The way she has looked this season, I would be shocked if she did not walk away with a title on Friday. In the semifinals, she should see Switzerland County's Klaire Redwine, who is the lone girl to beat Roell this season.

Favorite: Corabella Wesley-Hobart

Dark Horse: Kayla Roell-Milan

Best First Round Match: Helene Papadakis (Crown Point) vs Lindsey Pugh (North Miami)

NR Makenna Mckee-Rochester Community

NR Karlee Romer-Lakeland

NR Georgiana Wallace-Lawrence Central

NR Arynn Garrard-Indianapolis Cathedral

NR Addison Cline-Kokomo

NR Olivia Gibson-Logansport

Weight Preview:

This weight is Ava Strayer, Crown Point, versus the field, and I would still pick Strayer. Strayer has yet to lose a match in the state of Indiana, and I am not sure she has wrestled a six-minute match here in the last two seasons. No one is unbeatable, but Srayer is pretty close. Outside of Strayer, this weight is super competitive from the quarters on. This was a hard weight to pick because I do believe that if you wrestled this weight ten times, it would never look the same. On the top side of the bracket, you have Logansport's Olivia Gibson, who has not lost a match since the second week of the season. Due to the lack of rigor in their schedule, I see her dropping her quarterfinals match to Kankakee Valley's Lilly Culbreth. Right under them, you have Hagerstown's Abigail Gilbert and Plymouth's Caroline Balica, who have a combined 58 wins and only 2 losses. On the bottom side of the bracket, Whiteland's Marli Woods should end up seeing Lapel's Paige Stires for a chance to get into the semifinals.

Favorite: Ava Strayer-Crown Point

NR Devyn Pewarski-Sheridan

Weight Preview:

Two returning state champions headline this weight class. Garret's Nevaeh Wilson won the title at 130 last season, while NorthWood's Naima Ghaffar took the crown at 135. These two have four losses on the year, all to each other. Ghaffar won the first three matches between them, but Wilson was able to reverse the result last weekend. They should meet for a fifth and final time on Friday. Tri-Central's Makayela Philapy is the next best girl in this weight, coming with one loss on the year to Ghaffar. I see her rolling into at least the semifinals. On the bottom half, Mooresville's Cadence Williams put herself in a good spot by winning the regional a week ago, and should be wrestling Wilson in the bottom semifinal. Due to the way this bracket fell, I have the top six wrestlers in the state finishing in that order this weekend.

Weight Preview:

Remember what I said about Strayer at 130; the same applies to Pendleton Heights' Maddie Marsh. No one in this bracket is beating Marsh on Friday, and she will continue her journey to be a four-time state champion. Franklin Community's Jazlinn Diaz-Avalos is probably the next best girl in the bracket, but she is the best girl on her half of the bracket and should see Marsh in the finals. She will see Franklin Central's Madeline Thompson in a rematch in the quarters, where Diaz-Avalos won the first round in sudden victory. The next best girl in this weight is Crsecond-bestown Point's Kylie Benoit, who could be the second best girl here but will likely have to settle for third. She will also have another rematch in the quarters, where she should see Madalyn McCarty of Mt. Vernon (Posey). Beniot won the first matchup by fall.

Favorite: Maddie Marsh-Pendleton Heights

NR Ambryn Siddons-Mt. Vernon (Posey)

NR Addison Flores-Blackford

NR Elise Enyart-Rochester Community

Weight Preview:

Silver Creek's Ava Allen is another wrestler who is all but guaranteed to walk away with a state title on Friday. Allen has made the finals every year and looks to cap off her senior year with another title. On her half of the bracket, she should see Huntington North's Aubrey Troutner in the semis. Troutner brings in an undefeated record as well. Up top, Merrillville's Charisma Lawrence is the clear number two at this weight class. While she does have one loss, it is up a weight to someone you'll hear a lot about when I talk about 155. I do not see anyone really pushing her or preventing her from making the finals Friday night. Her likely semifinals opponent is Beech Grove's Caitlynn Dibbern, who comes in with one blemish on the year, a loss to Lawrence. Dibbern does have a tough quarter, seeing the winner of Western's Jade Chloe Johnson and Franklin Community's Aubrey Besler. I have the top five ranked wrestlers in the state finishing in that order on the podium.

Weight Preview:

Highland's Aleksandra Bastaic is another girl who is so elite that no one else in the bracket is going to honestly give her a match on Friday. She is another one who has won a title every year, and I do not see that changing in her senior season. This weight has another returning champion on the top side of the bracket, Garrett's Rhaigyn Trenary. Trenary took her first in-state loss last weekend to Bastaic at the regional. That match was probably a preview of what we will see Friday night. Outside of those two, this weight also has Madison's Maylie Skinner, a returning 3rd placer at this weight. Skinner should have little resistance getting to the semifinals, and while I do feel that Trenary makes the final on that side, Skinner is good enough to upset her. The fourth girl I have making the semifinals on Friday is Whiteland's Marin Wiggington. Wiggington has no bad losses this year and has faced a lot of the top girls in the state this year. The first round match to watch at this weight is between Warren Central's Journee Wells and Franklin Community's Lilyana Romero. Do not let the record deceive you; over half of Romero's losses were up at 190.

Weight Preview:

The top two wrestlers in the state at this weight class both took their first loss last week at the regional. After winning the first three matches, Franklin Community's Eleanor Robertson dropped her finals match to Columbus East's Annabelle Redman. I have these two meetings again on Friday night with a title on the line, and even though Redman won the most recent match, I feel that this is more of an outlier than the rule. The other girl who took her first loss is Tipton's Emersyn Adkins. She dropped a match to Rochester's Laine Peppler. Honestly, outside of a head-scratching loss back in early December, you could argue that Peppler should be the favorite to make the finals on this half of the bracket. There is a lot of parity in the top four here, and any of the four could win it this weekend.

Weight Preview:

Erin Cauble of Harrison (WL) is the huge favorite to take home the title Friday night. She was runner-up at 235 last year and is now down at 190, dominating. Cauble let a title escape from her a year ago, but I do not see that happening again this year. Terre Haute South's Trista Powers has not lost to anyone other than Cauble this season, and that should not change on Friday. Lebanon's Claira Gramlin has not lost to anyone other than Powers and Cauble this season, and I see her finishing 3rd behind those two. Gramlin will have Triton Central's Zoie Gray, who brings in the only other undefeated record, in the quarterfinals. I am leaning towards Gramlin here due to her having wrestled better competition this season. Lakeland's Naomi Arroyo and Rensselaer Central's Stacia Crabtree are the fourth and fifth best at this weight and should finish in that order. Arroyo gothe better draw of the two, even though Crabtree beat her last weekend. Arroyodoes have a tough one right away against Franklin Central's Sophia Jones, where the winner should make the semis.

Weight Preview:

Attica's Aubrey Bartkowiak made the finals her freshman year, got 5th as a sophomore, and was 3rd a year ago. She will leave on Friday as a state champion. She has been the clear number one from start to finish and will look to cap off her high school career on top of the podium. Bartkowiak may have been the best girl in the weight a year ago, but got caught in the semis. I do not see that happening again. He likely finals oppoent will come from the winner between North Central's Racheal Adolphe and Seymour's Dhamara Aguilar Tencle. Tencle took the first match between these two in ultimate tie-breakers, but nothing really happened in that match to make you think she is a lock to win the rematch on Friday. Adolphe is the one who caught Bartkowiak last year on her way to winning a state title. I look for Franklin Central's Jayleighn Holler to make a run to the semis on Friday as well. Her record is a little deceiving, with five of her losses coming to the three girls I mentioned earlier, and the other three being to girls she beat after.
