First round match-ups

Evansville Mater Dei vs Avon

This dual has happened already this season and it was not competitive and while Avon was missing several guys, this dual won’t be competitive this time around either.

Evansville Mater Dei advances

Brownsburg vs Chesterton

Chesterton presents a weird matchup for everyone. They have a back half of a lineup that is better than probably anyone’s. Lemely and Torres on the bottom half give them wins down low. Brownsburg has 4 IHSWCA titles for a reason and it isn’t by luck. They have good guys up and down their lineup and are a good team again this year with a chance to win it again. With that being said I’m picking Chesterton to knock off Brownsburg. I have Chesterton winning 8 weights; 120, 138 (Torres bumps), 145, 152, 160, 182, 195, and 220. None of those would be upsets and on paper Chesterton would be the favorite in those. Now Brownsburg can get wins at a few of those securing the dual, like 138 and 145.

Chesterton advances

Indianapolis Cathedral vs Perry Meridian

This is going to be a great dual and matchups are everything. Both teams are going to have some tricks up their sleeve and this dual may come down to the coin flip at the beginning of the dual. This dual will have several great matchups, such as the matches at 106, 113, 138, 170, and 220. In my opinion, while it is a little bit bias, this is the dual to watch in the first round. With that being said Cathedral has routinely found a way to do it in the past and I could see them doing it again.

Cathedral advances

Carmel vs Warren Central

Warren is a terrible matchup for the Greyhounds and I see them rolling into the semi-finals here. There should be some good matches here around the top, but Carmel has way too many holes to be competitive here.

Warren Central advances

Semi-finals

Warren Central vs Cathedral

We saw this dual earlier in the year and it was really close, Warren winning 33-32. Looking over the previous matchups, I don’t really see what Cathedral could do differently to change the results of this dual. They lost a close one at 113 last time, but also pulled off an upset at 120. In my opinion Cathedral wrestled a great dual the first time and still weren’t able to win, and I see a similar result here.

Warren Central advances

Chesterton vs Mater Dei

Chesterton will have to rely on their “murder’s row” to have a chance in this dual because this Mater Dei team resembles Crown Point a lot. Down low, Chesterton will probably only get one win here, so those big guys will need to carry them if they want a chance to make the finals. There’s a scenario where Chesterton wins the swing marches and this dual is tight or Mater Dei wins them all and it’s a blowout. Due to Chesterton having to be nearly perfect to win this dual it’s hard for me to pick them here.

Mater Dei advances

Finals

Mater Dei vs Warren Central

There’s only one team that really matched up well with Mater Dei in this bracket, and it’s the Warriors of Warren Central. Warren just matches up well with the Wildcats and where Mater Dei is good, Warren is just a bit better. Mater Dei has a lot more elite level guys but, their “bad” kids will be really outmatched and more than likely give up a quality decision. I see this dual going 8 matches to 6 for the Warriors.
