The first weight in this tournament is up for grabs. Carmel freshman Brac Hooper is having a solid year and seen as a slight favorite in this field. Plainfield’s Ty Nuetzman comes in with 1 loss on his record to top ranked Alex Cottey.

This weight is highlighted by a pair of top 10 wrestlers. Carmel’s Suhas Chundi has been having a great season and brings in an undefeated record. He will be challenge though as the favorite in this tournament as Monrovia’s Ben Dalton looks to add on to his already dominant season. Cameron Allen of Plainfield may be the only one in the weight who can prevent a Chundi, Dalton finals. Also look for the tough freshman from Castle, Ashton Hayhurst, to be a bracket buster.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#2(at 106) Ben Dalton-Monrovia

#7(at 106) Suhas Chundi-Carmel

#14 Cameron Allen-Plainfield

Hoosiermat Pick-Ben Dalton

Returning state placers Devon Casebolt and Carson Eldred look to be head and shoulders better than the field, and we should see a rematch of last year’s state quarterfinals. Returning state qualifier Noah Gardner, Carmel’s Aj Gunn, and Franklin Central’s Nick Morton are in this field and will look to take out the Castle senior.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#6 Devon Casebolt-Castle

#10 Carson Eldred-Westfield

This is a weight where everyone will be wrestling for second. Yorktown’s two-time state champion Brayden Curtis is the favorite here and I would be shocked to see him get dethroned here. Delta’s Payne Blackburn and Plainfield’s freshman Landon Boe look to round out the top 3.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#4 Brayden Curtis-Yorktown

#16 Payne Blackburn-Delta

Hoosiermat Pick-Brayden Curtis

Plainfield’s Logan Boe brings in two state medals in two years and look to put on a show. Carmel brings in an undefeated senior in Kyle Holman who is as tough as they get and won’t let Boe’s resume affect him.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#3 Logan Boe-Plainfield

Hoosiermat Pick-Logan Boe

This is a wide open weight and there are multiple kids who could finish on top of the podium. Bloomington North’s Justice Cash looks like the top wrestler in the group, but look for him to be challenged by Evansville Central’s Brayden Bethe.

#13 Justice Cash-Bloomington North

Hoosiermat Pick-Justice Cash

Plainfield’s LJ Burdon and Guerin Catholic’s Jeff Dunasky are the two best kids in the weight class and should see each other in the finals. Castle’s Brooks Hartz and Bloomington North’s Luke Arthur are two guys looking to make the finals at this weight.

#7 Jeff Dunasky-Guerin Catholic

#14 LJ Burdon-Plainfield

Hoosiermat Pick-Jeff Dunasky

This may be the deepest weight of the tournament. Two-time state qualifier Eric Hiestand is the early favorite but he will have a long list of guys looking to take the top spot on the podium. Carmel’s Gabe Davin, Hamilton Height’s Dreiken Dunn, Edgewood’s Austin Heckman, and the freshman from Terre Haute South Nate Lommock will all be up for the challenge.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#10 Eric Hiestand-Yorktown

This is another weight led by a multiple time state qualifier. Southridge’s Tucker Schank is the favorite here at this weight. Hamilton Height’s Bobby Williams bring in a similar record and looks to take a leap into another tier with a win over Schank.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#6 Tucker Schank-Southridge

Hoosiermat Pick-Tucker Schank

Westfield’s Kyle Saez and Carmel’s Logan Hart both already have wins over retuning state qualifiers and look to continue their already great senior seasons. Plainfield’s Jacob Platt brings in an undefeated record and will get tested for real for the first time this weekend. Terre Haute South’s Brendan McPike also has the potential to get a few upsets and finish on the top of the podium.

Ranked Wrestlers:

#4 Logan Hart-Carmel

#7 Kyle Saez-Westfield

Hoosiermat Pick-Logan Hart

This is the toughest weight in the tournament l. The winner of this weight will put the state on notice as a title threat. Iowa state placer LeVon Bellamy has been dominate this year and is the on paper favorite. There are 3 other wrestlers in this weight that boast undefeated records; Martinsville Will Nix, Carmel’s Cameron Bacon, and Evansville Central McKinley Kemper. Westfield’s Ryan Mahoney and Greenwood’s Jacob Stover round out a very tough field.

Ranked Wrestlers:

Undefeated Junior Micah Dodson, of Martinsville, is the favorite and will look to walk away with his title at Mooresville. Franklin Central’s Marion County Champ Deshawn Young has been having himself a great year and will look to keep the train rolling. Carmel’s Haakon Van Beynen is undefeated at this weight as well, but will be challenged for the first time.

The big guy field at this tournament will be a tough one no matter where you get put in the bracket. There are 6 kids that could legitimately win this weight; Franklin Central’s Antone Alexander, Plainfield’s Jack Biddle, Mooresville Robert Gentry, Terre Haute South’s Allen Haire, Southridge’s Wyatt Kramer, and Yorktown’s Holden Parsons.
